At Wilderness Festival (August 2014)
The subject of mental health can sometimes feel ‘off limits’ and difficult to approach. Oxfordshire Mind’s Human Search Engine gives you the opportunity to be curious, to ask questions and to meet someone who has experienced mental health problems (a ‘Voice of Experience’ volunteer) via a short one-to-one conversation. It’s chance to connect, learn something new and discover your shared humanity. Want to have a go? We’ll be setting up our cosy conversation space outside the NOW tent every day from 10.30 to 11.30. Whether you want to know more about depression or hearing voices, workplace stress or personality disorders, our Search Engineers will be ready to help you decide on a question and introduce you to your Voice of Experience for a 15 minute chat. The Human Search Engine is run by Oxfordshire Mind and funded by Time to Change and will be popping up at festivals and events across Oxfordshire this year.
2 Minute Interview:
How does your workshop relate to being in the NOW?
It’s a chance to be curious and connect with someone new. Taking the time to totally focus on your conversation means you’ll learn loads and come away with a new understanding about mental health problems.
What are you most looking forward to doing with your time at NOW?
We are really looking forward to meeting new people and having some real conversations about a subject that is usually taboo.
Any tips on how the audience can most benefit from your workshop?
Just come along with an open mind and some questions about mental health!
