Participant Spotlight: MC Angel

MC AngelMC Angel is a multi-talented host, rapper, MC and poet. She grew up on a council estate in Camden Town while fighting poverty and challenging circumstances. After studying Community Theatre at Hoxton Hall and gaining funding from The Princes Trust to run a drama project on the council estate where she grew up,  MC Angel performed her first show as a poet at Express Excess. This lead to shows at venues like Soho Theatre and winning the Hammer and Tongue London poetry slam finals, coming third in the nationals. MC Angel has toured with Asian Dub Foundation and Future Cinema and has performed at festivals all over the country as a rapper and poet. She recently starred in a radio drama aired on BBC Radio 4.

Treasuring the Now

This workshop explores the treasures to be found in our lives right now expressed through spoken word. We will focus on our present life situations, discovering the gems in the lessons and teachings we receive in the moment. No previous experience in the spoken or written word needed just an open mind.


MC Angel gives a short performance of her award winning poetry and rap to Deptford Lounge. Come and hear the voice that has created ripples around the country including songs from her album ‘Peace, Love & Unity’.
