Connecting to Contemporary Dance

A great place to start if you have little or no previous dance experience. Exploring connectivity to breath, space, and people, this engaging class is influenced by Release-based technique using a combination of falling, shifting and creative improvisation. The classes focus on strength resistance coordination and musicality to encourage freedom of movement, and awareness of the body in the moment.

How does your workshop with NOW Live Events relate to being in the moment?

The dance workshop I will be facilitating as a part of NOW Live Events relates to being in the moment as it will draw participant’s attention towards internal and external movement within their bodies that takes place moment to moment, centered around awareness of the breath, connection with the ground and moving with other people in the space. It will also include elements of guided improvisation in which participants are encouraged to make in the moment choices and relish in not knowing what will come next.

What are you most looking forward to doing within your NOW Live Events slot?

During my NOW Live Event slot I am most looking forward to meeting and dancing with new group of people and witnessing how the group will individually respond to the activities we will be doing.

Any tips on how the audience can best benefit from your workshop with NOW Live Events?

For participants attending my workshop I would advise that in order to get the most from the session that they come along with an open mind, a sense of lightheartedness and play and to not worry about going wrong.
