Tamara Russel

In this engaging and interactive workshop, Dr Tamara Russell will lead participants on a journey through the Transitional Pause. This is an applied mindfulness tool that can be used either in the now (as you transition from one activity to another) or within the larger framework of your life. It is a great way to create more clarity, focus and to grow our awareness.

The Transitional Pause invites us to consider where we have come from, where we are now and our intentions as we move forwards. It is a way to ensure that we are, to the best of our ability, acting with awareness and using every opportunity life throws at us to learn, develop and grow.

This workshop will help you to:

  • Understand the underlying neuroscience of how our bodies and brains engage with the past, present and future
  • Reflect on your own personal journey and think about how this tool can best support you in your own unique context
  • Explore how to apply the transitional pause in day to day life and the transformational effects it can have
  • Consider where this mindfulness tool will have the most impact for you

Tamara has been training this tool with a variety of professionals including GPs and health care workers, medical and nursing students, educational professionals (teachers and counsellors), psychologists and those working in the corporate sector. She uses it in her own work with individual clients, groups and students – as well as for her own sanity – in this increasingly distracted world! While the use of the tool is greatly enriched by a regular mindfulness practice, it is possible for those with limited mindfulness experience to use it as part of their development of mindfulness abilities. This workshop will be particularly helpful for anyone who is undergoing a transition or considering a transition (at work, in relationships, in their mindfulness practice).

The day will be run and hosted by NOW Live Events in partnership with Psychologies Magazine, in the beautiful atmosphere of 42 Acres Shoreditch. There will be plenty of time within the day to meet and connect with others, and become part of a growing community of like-minded people. Teas, coffees, light snacks, and other refreshments will also be available throughout the day.

* Please note that if you are going through a particularly traumatic time, this workshop may not be suitable for your needs. Please contact us if you want to discuss your situation directly with the facilitator.
